As a fashion lover, one of the first things I wanted to discover was street style fashion in Bangkok. How do local fashionistas dress, what do they wear?
Meeting designer Jay and her brand Dancing Riot gave me the glimpse I was looking for!
Jay was born and raised in Bangkok and therefore knows how to create the ultimate cosmopolitan city look. She started with Dancing Riot 10 years ago, surprisingly enough when she was about to graduate in a totally different subject area. But as graduation approached, she questioned what she would love to wake up for every day. And for her, there was only one answer: becoming a fashion designer!
She took the leap and step by step started learning about tailoring. Initially against her family’s advice, she convinced her sister to join her in the adventure.
10 years later they’ve built up a small yet successful brand — and Jay still loves waking up to create designs that make every women look and feel good. If you’re looking for street style fashion in Bangkok, be sure to check out Dancing Riot! Their clothes are not only on trend, but also comfortable and light to navigate this intense city.
This white jumpsuit is one of my favorite pieces – perfect for summer! You can dress it up with heels or pair it with sneakers for a more casual look.
I’m a lover of high waist pants and crop tops so this colorful combo is a winner for me (love the open back!). Combine it with a Waayu bag to finish your summer look.
However, it weren’t the clothes that attracted me into Jay’s shop at first, but the name of her brand! When I asked her how she came up with “Dancing Riot”, she replied:
“I wanted a name that wasn’t too serious, fashion is all about having fun. My clothes are casual but each piece has an original touch. Because I believe you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to get dressed, you can have fun with your clothes every day.”
I couldn’t agree more!
Where to shop Dancing Riot and more street style fashion in Bangkok
You can find their shop in Bangkok’s Siam Square Soi 2 or buy their pieces on their website. They ship internationally as well!
Siam Square is one of my favorite shopping areas in Bangkok by the way (here you can read about my top 5 shopping spots in Bangkok). Located in the shadow of big malls like Siam Paragon and MBK, this area is packed with small designer shops and therefore the ultimate go-to place for young Thai fashionistas and for anyone looking to score an original and funky look without breaking the bank!
