At some point there’s no denying anymore that your baby bump has outgrown your wardrobe. There’s a maximum to the stretch of even your largest tees and dresses – time to go shopping!
While these words sound like music in every woman’s ears, it can actually be pretty tricky if you live in a foreign country and don’t know where to go. Especially if the fashion taste there is quite different, like in Thailand (many pregnant women here seem to wear either very girly or rather old-fashioned empire dresses – not my cup of tea to be honest..). But there ARE cute local shops for everyone’s taste, you just have to know where to find them!
Many expat women have asked me to reveal where I shop my maternity wear in Bangkok, so here we go! You can buy all these goodies online and most of them ship internationally.
1. Preloved clothes / second hand maternity clothes in Bangkok
Let me start with the most budget & environment friendly option: buy your pregnancy clothes from another mom. There is a lively expat community here and several Facebook groups where you can find preloved items for your family. Especially the Facebook group “Bangkok Expat Mothers – Sale Board” is a useful place to look for maternity wear and accessories, as well as baby clothing later on. A second great option is Swap Til You Drop BKK which organizes regular clothes swapping events, including for moms and moms to be (find them on Facebook or Instagram for more details).
2. Saona Collection
This is a great local shop I’ve recently discovered with gorgeous boho style dresses! It’s not maternity as such, which makes them perfect for wearing after your pregnancy too. Pretty much all their pieces are bump and nursing friendly! They have a shop at Terminal 21 or you can shop their collection online.
Nitan is a local brand with maternity dresses, pants, nursing tops, and accessories. They have a fun feminine style and are budget friendly. You can find their collection in shops across Bangkok (see locations on their website) or you can score your pieces online.
6. Cozy Gal
I can assure you, 9 months is a LONG time. Feels like you’ve been pregnant forever! So you might as well make it a fun ride, and with these t-shirts that’s a done deal. Thai gal Linda prints all of these in her little Bangkok studio, and they’ll brighten up your pregnancy wardrobe for sure! Another shop with fun maternity tees is Moodcatz, a small family business from Bangkok as well.
7. BChic Mom
Last but not least, meet BChic Mom. Some dresses are quite “Thai” style, but there is a range of pieces which are more basic as well as some cute more formal options for the office. You can find more details about the brand in this blogpost.
I keep discovering new brands for myself and Cleo here – Bangkok is such an amazingly creative city! Of course I’ll be sharing my new finds with you on this page and my Instagram (I’d love to meet you there!). And if you have any feedback or your own shopping tips – don’t hesitate to drop me a comment or message!
