This kimono robe from Hamburger Studio was love at first sight! The playful leopard print and breezy fabric made it a perfect addition to my Bangkok wardrobe.
Bonus: it’s such a versatile piece! You can add it to many different outfits and wear it in various ways. Looking for some outfit inspo? Here are 5 original ways how to style a kimono robe!

1. On a jumpsuit
If your kimono has a print, consider wearing it over a monochrome jumpsuit (or dress). The jumpsuit I wear here comes from the same brand and has a similar color, but it doesn’t need to be. If your robe has a belt, you can wear it on your one-colored outfit to “break it” and accentuate your waist. You can pair this outfit with sneakers or flats for a more casual day look, and put on heels to transition into the night!
2. With colored pants and a tee
Don’t be afraid of bold colors – opt for a bright pair of pants and tone it down with a simple white tee. In my case, I matched my robe with green high-waisted trousers from Dancing Riot and a graphic tee from Pomelo. I like the unusual combination of prints, colors and letters!
3. On a crop top and jeans
Play with length and pair your long kimono with a short top. By matching it with high-waisted loose jeans you only show a small bit of skin, enough to accentuate your waist. Combine it casually with an oversized tote and sneakers, or a pair of heels for an original evening look! I added a clutch with a different print as finishing touch.
4. Over a midi skirt
A midi skirt is another great way to style a kimono robe. I opted for a tule skirt, as I like the mix of fabrics here! You can use the belt on your skirt to accentuate your waist (here I go again!). I gave this romantic skirt a rock ‘n roll vibe by pairing it with this black graphic top. And again, you can wear it with both sneakers or heels depending on the occasion!
5. Go casual with denim shorts
As mentioned above, playing with lengths makes your look interesting. Wear a pair of shorts with your maxi kimono, either in a matching color or in denim (which goes with pretty much everything). A graphic tee and a pair of sneakers completes your look! Finally, I chose this bag for a funky print-on-print effect.
