So I pick my bags with great care and I’m always on the lookout for special pieces. You can therefore imagine my joy when I discovered Mo in Bangkok!
Mo is from the hand of Rozalin, a Thai girl boss I had the pleasure to meet in my new hometown.
It’s been a tradition in her family to study in Japan and it’s there that she discovered the beauty of leather craft.
“I found a great leather craftsman in Japan and didn’t want anyone but him to tutor me. At first he rejected me, as my Japanese language skills and knowledge were limited. But I kept begging and finally he gave in. It was the start of my journey into the fascinating world of leather!”
For one and a half year she studied with the Japanese master and learned the ins and outs of leather craft. Then she started wondering if she could turn her passion into a living.
“I wanted to work only with the highest quality of leather so I needed a significant amount of funding. I started with trying to obtain crowdfunding for the launch of my first wallet. Much to my surprise I got it! This boosted my confidence and belief in my business.”
The first handbag Rozalin designed was the “Doctor Mo”. She took inspiration from an old-school doctor’s bag and gave it a feminine touch.
The Doctor Mo is made from soft cow’s leather. The original version costs 5980 THB and there is a luxe version for 7290 THB.
One of my favorites is the “Super Mo tote”, launched this year. It’s designed for the woman who’s always on the go – it has lots of space with several practical compartments like a laptop sleeve, water bottle holder, pockets for your phone and sun glasses, and a key leash. The days of desperate browsing for lost belongings are officially over!
I can tell you already it will be impossible to pick only one… which one is your favorite?
